recreation of 'the persistence of memory'
for this work, I decided to recreate one of my favorite paintings. This was created with just a grid, pencil and a lot of patience. I only drew part of the painting so I could pay extra close attention to the details.
This piece took me around 20 hours and one entire 2b pencil. I was taught the importance of patience and being in the moment while working on this piece.
self portrait
This drawing was an assignment in a class and I was the only one to draw myself but as a baby. I felt that this was healing to myself as while working on it I got to remember that this little girl is still living inside me. This was my first time ever attempting to draw a human and it was a rewarding challenge.
This drawing took me roughly 15 hours and an entire 2b pencil. Using a pencil is my preferred medium when making physical art works. Another piece that allowed me to slow down and be present.
perspective study
Perspective and lighting was the main focus of this piece. Remaining consistent throughout the boxes in this piece was the biggest lesson during this study. Perspective is extremely important when it comes to creating 3 dimensional figures on 2 dimensional surfaces.
This work took me 12 hours in total to complete. Also done with a 2b pencil, and continuously further teaching me to be neat, clean and persistent with my lines and shading.
still life
working on still life work has been so beneficial to my artistic abilities and has really improved my skill. In this piece I used a metal cowboy boot, matches and playing cards. I wanted to challenge myself by having different materials in the model. Metal boot, paper cards, stick matches and a wood desk was the perfect combination for a challenge to my abilities.
This was done with a charcoal pencil  and a little bit of 2b led pencil, and took me around 6 hours total to complete. I try to capture a little bit of myself in each piece of art I make whether is be my noticeable attention to detail or a little more straight forward, a cowboy boot, which I happen to collect.
don't talk to me before I've had my coffee
this is a still life I drew of a coffee pot in my home. The goal was to draw something challenging, so I chose a glass coffee pot which I can now say I definitely challenged myself. Getting myself out of my comfort zone when is comes to art is important to me. To make it better I always will make it about something I love, coffee!
This took me around 4 hours and was used with charcoal, which was my first time using charcoal. Although challenging and not my absolute favorite piece I have made, I think it important to show the challenging aspects of creating art.
